Our hearts are very full today because life is back to normal. Cade is off treatment this week and home from the hospital after a 10 day stay. My parents were here for all but one day of the stay, and we (in some ways) feel like it flew by. I found it really encouraging how familiar everything felt during out stay, including the nurses and staff at the hospital. We feel so known there, and we genuinely like so many of the faces we routinely see.
Cade at one point in the hospital had several things going on (pneumonia, swimmer's ear, RSV) but he really left totally normal. He was bouncing off the walls and being a crazy man. Having him back in his own bed and living life without his "tubey" in (as Haven points out every day) is doubly refreshing. We are now back to separating screaming children fighting over toys and demanding ice cream after dinner. It's normal chaos and I love it.
Thank you for praying for our family and for Cade. We go in Friday for another count check to see if Cade will be ready for another 5 day treatment this Monday. This particular 5 day does not affect his counts and is a 30 minute infusion, which seems so much easier than the all day treatments we have been doing. We are still in need of prayer for a few things these coming weeks, and we are thankful for your partnership:
1. Please pray that Cade's counts recover to the exact amount God wants them to. If we delay more, we actually have more possible dose reductions, which will always sound appealing to me. But, we want Cade to get the exact amounts of chemo that he needs. Please pray that the wisdom of God would be given to our oncologist, and that he would receive every drop of chemo he needs and nothing additional.
2. Please pray that the side effects of next week's chemo (mainly stomach issues) would be nonexistent and that Cade would be able to run around and enjoy a normal week in the middle of summer.
3. Please continue to pray that Cade's body forgets every cancer cell and how to make them. We are praying that his body submits to God's original design, with health and wholeness and a body that knows how to attack and kill off anything foreign or broken. It is amazing to think that God made our bodies to fight off disease. Please pray that Cade's body excels at this for the rest of his life.
Here is the video update for this week, marked with lots of typical marriage interaction. I hope in the middle of all of our chatter there is something encouraging for you:
