Life has been a whirlwind for the past 13 days while Cade has been inpatient for neutropenia. His white blood cell count is taking longer to recover, and while his energy and enthusiasm are uninhibited, we can't go home until his bone marrow shows us he is recovering.
In the past two weeks, my sister and my cousin came to help, and that was a huge blessing. I keep coming back to the idea that God makes a way in the wilderness, and opens up pools of water there that keep our hearts sustained. It's still the wilderness and the desert, but there is a way for us! We are thankful.
We are still expecting to start a five day chemo this next Tuesday after Memorial Day but that will all depend on his counts this Friday. The good news is, if he isn't ready, most likely the dosing to this chemo group will change. We are trusting and asking that our Master Oncologist and our earthly oncologist work in perfect tandem to provide Cade with the exact dosing he needs. If that means a longer hospital stay with delayed counts so we get it right, we are okay with that. (Just slightly ready to be home together again.)
I am, perhaps more than ever, thankful for my husband and our little family unit. God's design of putting us in family is amazing.
Here are some prayer points for this week:
1. Please pray Cade's counts recover for us to go home, and recover enough for whatever God wants to do with this next chemo round and dosing. We are trusting in His perfect timing.
2. Please continue to pray for Cade's physical strength. We are SO encouraged to say Cade is packing on pounds in the hospital and hasn't gotten sick once! He has kept all of his meals down, and I am seeing more weight on him than I have in a month. WOW!
3. Please pray ahead of time for this next 5 day chemo to go right where it should and nowhere it shouldn't. Pray protection over Cade's organs, namely his remaining kidney, and for God to continue to sustain Cade.
4. And finally, pray for our family and the moms and mother-in-laws and friends and sisters and sister-in-laws who have been so helpful and available in this season. We are so thankful for the hands that help!
Thank you for journeying with us!
